Two centuries ago a band of witches discovered openings between their world, Giervalk, and other parallel worlds. They harnessed the power of these windows and became like museum curators, picking only the purest in heart to join them.
Overtime they selected the best of the best from each of the 24 window worlds, but despite their careful selections and pure intentions, evil crept in. In order to keep the evil contained, the windows were sealed. The land was covered in darkness. War raged, kingdoms fell, families were lost.
