Rayla - The WitchBorn: Giervalk
Age: 13 Height: 5ft 3in Species: Human (Witch) Abilities: Magik Excerpt from The White Falcon: Taking Flight"The excited, young witch took one last look at her reflection in the full length mirror and was pleased. She wore a new black silk dress that came to just above her knees. She shortened the hem by two more inches and hoped her mother and aunt would not mind…too much. She wore green and black striped knee-high socks and new boots with pointy toes and shiny silver buckles. Rayla swung on her favorite dark green velvet cloak and hooked the clasp. She attempted to tame her mass of red spirals by wearing a wide headband. Butterflies fluttered in Rayla’s stomach."

Rayla before The White Falcon
Before a witch's thirteenth birthday, the greatly anticipated night when she, or he, casts her first spell, they must learn the basics. A strong foundation is necessary before one can do something as bold as cast a spell or dabble with potions.
The days prior to a witch's thirteenth birthday is spent focusing on what the community calls book studies. It was during these studies that Rayla learned about the three elements of a strong spell: an opening, body and close.
Opening: Who are you asking for help? It can be an element, the witch community, a family member or friend that has passed on, or your maker.
Body: What are you asking for? This is your request. Be positive.
Close: Your desire and hope to have your request come to pass. The witches of Giervalk use: As I will, so mote it be. Rayla adds something additional to her more urgent spells.
"As I will, so mote it be. Show me now 1, 2, 3!"
